Team,

I officially announced at the banquet that I stepped down as head coach of the program. The 7 seasons I got to lead this program and see it grow has had some of the most important moments of my life. I’ve been super lucky to be a part of this program and share this sport with wrestlers, parents, and coaches. I am looking forward to more time with my family, while my children are still young, and being able to focus on my doctorate program.

We have been a bit quiet so far this offseason while the Athletic Department went through the hiring process of a new head coach. I am excited to announce that Coach Aaron Hoorn has been hired as the new head coach of wrestling for SLHS!

Coach Hoorn has been with SLHS wrestling the past 7 seasons. He was an integral part of the development of our program, with respect for tradition, and has always gone above and beyond to support individuals in achieving some awesome goals. I know he will continue to lead this program with accountability, effort, integrity, and pride.

I’m also excited for the continuity in leadership with the current coaching staff sticking around, including myself in a different role.
